School Visits to Abbotts Ann Watercress Farm
Schoolchildren in the Andover district have been discovering the wonders of the natural environment during visits to Vitacress Salads’ Abbotts Ann Farm run in conjunction with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust’s education team.
The school visits have been promoted by the Vitacress Conservation Trust and are totally free to attend.
Through some up close and personal encounters with minibeasts, freshwater creatures and Rocket the barn owl, we hope to have inspired the children involved to protect local wildlife for years to come. The Vitacress Conservation Trust has provided equipment such as stream dipping kits and identification worksheets. The Farm Manager, Ron Bainbridge has also taught the children about watercress production and encouraged them to eat more of it!
We are currently arranging school visits for this summer – if you are interested, please contact either:
